UK Regulatory Landscape
There seem to be a few primary arenas of regulatory framework that will impact significantly on the delivery of counselling and psychotherapy in the UK. At the moment, it is unclear precisely how the various efforts will all come together and when the full impact will be felt by clients & practitioners.
To the right are links for information about some organisations and initiatives ... The statutory registering body is the Health Professions Council (HPC).
In an effort towards balance, we’ve also listed some of the key organisations opposed to current regulatory schema. The listings and content are by no means comprehensive. Please review them and, to that end, kindly contribute some of your expertise and email Mariana to round out the content and submit your ideas, corrections, additions, elaborations, etc. In particular, please send information about the impact on professionals in parts of the UK not covered by NICE.
